A Successful Opening Week

A Successful Opening Week

This past week has seen the grand opening of our concert stage at Zephyr Point, the Roxeter Arms Pub, and the first exhibit at Roxeter Place for the Visual Arts. The turnout was fantastic, and the featured artists and performers superb!

On Thursday we had our first live music performers at Zephyr Point, thanks to the efforts of our Live Entertainment Manager, Freya Lovencraft. Canadian musician Quartz was followed by Mason Thorne. The night was beautiful, the musicians fantastic, and a good time was had by all!

On Sunday morning our first gallery show opened, featuring the art of Sisi Biedermann and Talullah Winterwolf, organized by our curator Shakti Adored. Selador Cellardoor streamed in update and “deranged” classical and baroque music to fit with the theme of the show, March Madness. The mad tea party table set completed the theme.

Sunday afternoon, Second Life comedian Archered billed as “The Great Pretender” opened the Roxeter Arms pub with his Jeff Foxworthy show. The turnout was great in this cozy venue and he kept everyone laughing.

All in all I would say that this was a great and successful opening week for Roxeter. The library will host some literary events starting in April, and the theatre is still under construction. There are good things to come!

And so it begins!

And so it begins!

Quartz Promo PicMarch is here, and we are starting up our first events in Roxeter! On Thursday, March 5 we will have our first live music events featuring Quartz at 5 pm SLT and Mason Thorne at 6 pm SLT.

Quartz is a Canadian singer, songwriter and musician who performs all his shows with passion and an emotional connection to the music he sings. Quartz plays keyboard, lead, bass and acoustic guitar. His genre is typically classic and progressive rock, from the cassette years to now, and he brings a repertoire of over 200 songs including his own compositions.

Mason brings his unique style of humor to any venue! You’ll laugh, you’ll wince! But either way, you’ll be entertained by his folkie musical taste and his above average guitar playing!

On Saturday at 1 pm SLT Ashton Andretti takes the stage. Ashton Andretti is an acoustic musician from the Midwest who is relatively new in Second Life music. Ashton deviates from the norm and plays an eclectic taste in the Indie and Folk genres covering artists like Clem Snide, Ryan Adams, The Avett Brothers, The Tallest Man On Earth, Griffin House, Colin Meloy, Jonathan Coulton and more!

Maximillian KleeneThe Roxeter Arms pub will host a show by a Steve Martin impersonator on Sunday, March 8 at 1 pm SLT. “Steve” Martin is an American comedian, actor, musician, writer, and producer. Martin came to public notice as a writer for the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, and later became a frequent guest on The Tonight Show. One of the funniest comedians of all time! Look forward to an hour of LOLs and ROTFLMAOs! Arrow through the head! Banjo! King Tut! A “wild and crazy guy!”. You will not want to miss this performance.

On Sunday, March 15, at 7 pm SLT Maximillion Kleene takes the stage. Maximillion Kleene, winner of the 2012 Avi Choice Award for “Favorite Pop Singer” and 2013 Avi Choice Award winner for Favorite Pop Singer, Favorite Rock Singer, Favorite Male Musician and Favorite Singing Duo with Lisa Brune.has been amazing his audiences since 2007. His dynamic musical range and smooth acoustic groove “Max-imizes” tunes ranging from CCR to Foo Fighters; from Train to Jason Mraz. Streaming from Niagara Falls Canada, Max provides his fans with an hour of musical magic and brings a vast repertoire of quirky, classic, and current covers to Second Life.

Gallery Entrance

Watch soon for the grand opening of our gallery, Roxeter Place for the Visual Arts. We are finalizing the details of the opening of an exhibition featuring the works of two amazing Second Life artists, Sisi Biedermann and Talullah Winterwolf. Prepare to be amazed. Once details are nailed down we will announce an official opening date.

Thanks Freya! She has scored one very popular second life musician for four performances running into June! Kudos!

It looks like things are warming up in Roxeter, no matter what the weather in real life might be doing!

Introducing our Live Entertainment Manager!

Introducing our Live Entertainment Manager!

Freya For Roxeter

Freya Lovenkraft has taken up the challenge and position of our Live Entertainment Manager at Roxeter. She has given our beach concert stage a name, Zephyr Point Performance Center. I asked Freya to do a write up to introduce herself.

“Hello all! I’m Freya (aka freyaschild.lovenkraft). I have been in and out, ‘round and about Second Life for over seven years. I am a real life lover of the arts in a variety of forms, especially music. As a long time member of the SL community I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to give back.

“When I first came to Second Life I was in awe of all the possibilities that it held. Like a lot of people, I found a variety of outlets and support for different interests. People come to Second Life for a lot of reasons, but it’s the live entertainment and entertainers that has kept me coming back.

Snapshot_001“Hardly a day goes by that I am not inspired and moved by one of Second Life’s talented performers, and maybe even a little envious! I can only WISH I were that talented. I’m struck by the level of talent as well as their level of courage! We should all count ourselves as lucky that Live Entertainment is going strong here in Second Life.

“So the morning I saw the notice about Roxeter looking for someone to help out with their dynamic venture of promoting and facilitating Live Entertainment, of course I was interested! I like the goal we’re setting forth – have fun, promote fun, praise fun. Fun. Enjoy your Second Life. I was attracted to the concept right away.

“Feel free to contact me with suggestions or booking information. We have big plans for March, I simply cannot WAIT to get started! It will be an honor to help promote and celebrate these brave and accomplished individuals, I can only hope I do them justice.

Happy,

Freya”

Name the Beach Venue

Name the Beach Venue

Snapshot_001

I am calling on all those interested in arts and culture in Second Life to help us choose a name for the Beach venue. It is more like a concert stage than it is a club, but dance animation balls have been provided. Some single player games (mahjong, pinball, hangman, and Mastermind) have been added on the perimeter. The beach venue has an elaborate lighting and special effects system (including a fog machine) controllable from an elevated booth. The intent of this venue is to host live performances of musicians in Second Life. It also has a DJ booth to host special event parties and celebrations, but it is not intended to be yet another club in Second Life.

To make a suggestion, please make a comment below, send an IM to Vivienne Daguerre in Second Life, or fill in the contact form on our “About Us” page.
